Died Thursday afternoon, December 19, 1996. Mrs. VanderWeele was bron May 10, 1916 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Jacob and Effie (Mulder) Potts, and was a life resident of this community. She was an active member of the Third Reformed Church. For 10 years she was employed at the Northwood Public School as a bus driver. Ty loved to bowl. She was preceded in death by her husband, John VanderWeele on September 8, 1982; a great-granddaughter Emily Jo Renema on July 25, 1991 and by 2 brothers, Claus and Bernard Potts. Surviving are a daughter and a son and spouses, Joyce and James Heystek of Kalamazoo, Bernard and Judy VanderWeele of Las Vegas, NV; 4 grandchildren and spouses, Susan and Douglas Renema of Kalamazoo, Ronald and Debra Heystek of Parchment, Douglas VanderWeele and his fiancee, Christy Crawford, both of Shreveport, LA, and Marc VanderWeele of Troy, IL; 5 great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Rebecca and Michael Renema, Travis and James Heystek, a sister Clara Buytendorp of Kalamazoo, several nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. VanderWeele will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from Third Reformed Church.
